I need to update this journal from time to time, and now I even have a valid reason to do so:
me and stolen_heaven won the Walk-On contest at a Moscow convention!
I'm a bit surprised, considering that we cosplayed a pretty much unknown fandom, but I'm glad that the judges and the audience enjoyed Mochizuki's character designs and the way we presented them.

And I hope that we'll be able to have a good photoshoot for these costumes sometime soon...

New anime season - Fall 2008

Switch OVA and Hell's Angels OVA. I really hope they'll be as awesome as the mangas are.

Gundam 00. Season 2 - one of the few sequels I'll definitely be watching. Oh, and next year is Gundam's 30th Anniversary, so I'm sure more interesting stuff must come out. I've already heard that CLAMP are drawing some illustrations of Char's Counterattack.

Kuroshitsuji - once again, because I like the manga. I'm still wondering how many episodes are planned and weither or not they'll animate the Indian ark. Anime!Sebastian looks a bit strange, and Ciel looks a bit older than in the manga, but everything else seems great so far.

Tales of Abyss - just want to see how they animated this. Usually anime series based on games are inferior to the original, but who knows?

Tytania - from the creators of Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I feel obliged to try to watch this.

Hokuto no Ken - since I want to see how they draw a Fist of the North Star anime nowadays.

Mouryou no Hako - based on some award-winning mystery novel. Seems interesting.

ToraDora - the manga's really cute, so I'll probably watch the anime too.

Bihada Ichizoku - an anime about... cosmetics. Wow.

I might check out a few more series when they come out, but I doubt I'll be watching more than two or three ongoing anime in the end.

Yay, our team's Gundam 00 skit won "Best modern skit" at Moscow's summer convention Cha-no-u.
Though I wonder about the "modern" part of it. But oh well.

I'd really love to have a photoshoot in these costumes now.

I graduated from University! Well, almost, since the graduation ceremony will be held on July 4, but that's just a formality. Everybody's talking about "getting a real job" now, but I'll probably wait till September to start searching, since I want to enjoy my summer. And it's actually pretty impossible to find anything decent until autumn anyway.
Still can't believe I'm through with being a student though. This calls for a celebration!

Spring anime season - Code Geass R2.

Code Geass R2 (episode 1)
First of all, I love the new opening. Except for Lelouch riding a horse - that was cheesy and the horse was poorly drawn. But I like the song and Orange-kun being alive made my day. Also, a bunch of new characters, including the knights and a chinese loli.
The first part of the episode was fun, too bad Lulu got his memory back, he won't be this carefree anymore. Villetta's awesome, but wtf is with her being paired up with Ogi in the opening? I want her with Orange!
Rollo didn't really impress me.
It's hard to say anything about the other new characters, but I like Li's constant "I hate you" face, and the way Zino and Anya stood before the Emperor without showing any sort of fear, trembling or awe such a majestic figure should inspire. Kids these days.

New costumes. Anya's pilot suit and "normal" clothes kill me.

Zino, on the other hand, has an awesome pilot suit.
And it seems that he stole Suzaku's coat from season one, but had to cut the sleeves off, because they were too short for him.

And if Zino stole Suzaku's clothes, then Lelouch must have taken Mao's:

Spring anime season - Amatsuki.

So, it's another season, eh? It would be easier just to download the first episode of every new anime and then decide what to watch, but oh well, don't have enough time to do that, so I guess I'll just trust my friend-list on their choices.

I did watch a few new series myself though, so I'll start writing about them.

Amatsuki (episode 1)
In case you want to know the summary, it's about a guy named Tokidoki, who failed a history test and therefore was send to a virtual-reality historical museum, which recreates Japan's Edo period. There, he was suddenly attacked by a demon (and saved from it), but when he came to his senses, he realized that he got stuck in the real Edo period.
I love the manga. I really do.
That's why I'm probably gonna be grumpy about any changes that will happen to the storyline (which probably will happen, since there's only 13 episodes planned). But the first episode was actually nice. I didn't like the opening, but everything else was really well drawn. And the moment when Toki lost his eye was just perfect.
Oh, and another thing I find annoying. Kon's eye color in the anime is blue. In the manga, it's kinda hard to tell, since Takayama's art style allows different colors to be used, like coloring black hair blue and etc. But when she drew the characters chibi-like, she gave him brown eyes. Why do I pay so much attention to this? ~~Because I'm retarded~~ Because in both the manga and anime, there's a moment when Kon tells Toki to cover his bleached hair, because it's not normal for Japanese to have light hair - he would stand out to much and be treated as a foreigner or demon. Well guess what? Blue eyes weren't "normal" in the Edo period either, so good luck fitting in. And yes, I know that I'm nagging about some detail in an anime being *gasp* inaccurate, but I just can't help it.

I'm graduating from university in about half a year (less, actually), so I'm trying to find some "golden mean" between completely wasting my time and trying to work myself dead. Oh, wait - I'm not working myself dead. I definitely should be though.

Nothing much going on - recently, work and study seem to take up most of my time. Our new project's called "Phonecall" and it's an action reality show: participants have to collect "keys" all over Moscow using tips which are given to them via their cellphones. Nothing too original, but still interesting to follow, at least for the film crew. :D

Also, had a big convention in St.Petersburg a week ago. I missed nearly all of the skits there, but learned what a pain a hoop skirt could be. I still love my dress, even though I doubt I'll be wearing it outside of an up-coming photoshoot.
I'm not really a Clamp fan, but the costumes they draw are wonderful!

I really love our Watanuki - simply perfect.

Really, I should stop spending money on useless things like manga in a language I don't even know. Any moment now. Any moment.

But meanwhile I've already ordered a few Reborn! volumes and the mr.Fullswing fanbook.
And, apparently, I can't live without the following:

I am a weak person, but I want it. Hopefully there will even be a script for it, so the pretty pictures will make some sense to me. And I probably should order the previous volumes later on, along with Takayama's new mr.Morning.

Takeru - Susanoh ~ Mashou no Ken yori

I think I'm in love with this manga. Well, at least the main character. Can't remember any other manga with an amazing daring character that would be closer to Sinbad, rather than a japanese or european adventurer. Not that I don't enjoy the other two, but I really missed this kind of main hero! :D
Right now Snow Kiss has started translating volume two, but I still want to order the whole four books. And the side-story.

Kuroshitsuji (Dark Butler)

I... have no idea what this is. Apart from the fact that the main hero looks like Mukuro from Reborn. Lol.
But the images from the official site, including this wallpaper, were enough to make me want it. Yes, I am that easily amused.

So, did I say something about saving money? Nah.

Life in general

All I have to do is create two media projects and one radio show and I'll be done with my fourth year (and previous years) project! *eye twitching* But still I don't regret transfering, since studying became much more interesting. And, thankfully, no practice work this summer. Now that's a relief.

Cosplay expenses wtf? Making Sasuke's new team in the name of crack for a summer convent and right after that... I rather not think about our next cosplay. But it includes a lot of training in order to make an impressive skit and a lot of money for the costume itself.

Last season's anime worth watching:

1. Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann. Because it's made of win. Funny, interesting and has great characters with strange mechas. Even though I thought that episode 8 would kill the whole series, it seems that thing's aren't that bad and the main charater is becoming more and more interesting.

2. Darker Than Black. Love the main character. And the whole atmospere. Maybe it's because of Heroes that I'm into series about people with supernatural abilities, but I like the concept of paying a certain price for your abilities. And Mao looks like my own cat and that has me grinning each time I see him.

3. Ookiku Furikabutte. I blame iciak for this one. I didn't want another sports series, I didn't need another sports series, but now it has corrupted me. I love everything about it. Only problem is how slow it's getting translated.

4. Claymore. Long time since I had so much love for female characters. And also the series really remind me of Sapkowski's Witcher (Wiedźmin). Beautiful, bloody and an amazing soundtrack. And the way the monsters are drawn in the manga is really impressive.

5. Romeo x Juliet. I need to catch up with the series, but I still find it very pretty. And cracky. Never thought I'd laugh this much over a Shakespeare tragedy! :D

Heard a lot of good things about Lovely Complex, but haven't watched it yet.

As for the new, summer season, can't say anything specific about it yet. Though... an anime about doujishi artists? O___o""
Uploaded a few previews for the new series. But I guess most of the good stuff will come out in autumn.

SMART-O DESU. Enough said.

Future captain (I hope) and delinquent. He's just plain awesome, especially in the later chapters.
- Kobayakawa Sena
Even though main characters are rarely my favorites, I simply adore Sena.
- Mushanokoji Shien (Kid)
Actually, I don't know anybody who DOESN'T like him.
- Maruko (Marco)
Yes, I am aware we know practically nothing of this character. I just like his strategy.

See above. Kakei + Mizumachi is love.

I actually started loving them for their anime theme. But they're actually a great team.

Main character team. My love for them guarantees that the results of the Christmas Bowl won't upset me. Just kidding.

Eurovision 2007

I don't usually watch Eurovision, but this year I'll probably take a look, since it's full of gay, crack and WTF-ness.

First of all - I love the French representatives. I don't know why, they just make me happy! :D
France - Les Fatals Picards - L'amour A La Française

I like the blend of different music styles in the Polish song - it did kinda remind me of Christina Aguilera, but the melody kept changing all the time, so I actually found it pretty good. I'd also say that it's good enough to win first prize, but in Eurovision it's hard to tell how people will vote...
Poland - The Jet Set - Time to party

Israel's song is made of crack AND has a political context. Way to go!
Israel - Teapacks - Push the button

I don't know if this song was supposed to be funny, but I laughed so hard during these three minutes of the 90's vampire disco! XDD
Switzerland - DJ Bobo - Vampires Are Alive

There are TWO crossdressers on Eurovision this year. And I'm annoyed with the Ukranian one, because I really can't understand why he's so popular here in Russia too...
Denmark - DQ - Drama Queen
Ukraine - Verka Serduchka - Danzing

Two ethnic songs, that don't really fit for a contest like this one:
Bulgaria - Elitsa - Voda
Ireland - Dervish -They Cant Stop the Spring
I like the Irish one though.

This anime is freakin' BRILLIANT!

Three words: SHAKESPEARE. ON. CRACK.

Okey, I expected the "Neo Verona" aerial city and the flying horses, since I saw the trailer, but the fact that they completely changed the storyline was what made my day. I laughed so hard, I almost cried! Really, everyone must see this. :D

Montague is a rip-off of the studio's earlier Count Monte Christo...

The most brilliant thing about the series: they MISSPELLED Shakespeare's name in the opening.

Juliet cosplaying a boy... ("Shakespeare in love", anyone?)

And being herself:

Romeo and Benvolio. No, this is not a pairing. Yet.
(I instantly fell in love with Benvolio though... So cute! :3 )

Another ~~future pairing~~ pair of great characters in the background - Francisco and Curio. And who cares that Curio is from "Twelfth Night" and Francisco is a minor character in "Hamlet" - they're HOT! XDDDDD

Mercutio... Can't say much about him yet, besides the fact that he somehow reminds me of Spike from "Cowboy Bebop"... O__o"""

Hmm, sorry, I haven't posted anything in a while.

Well, yes, it's because I'm a lazy bum, but I've also been pretty busy this last month. Had major problems with a teacher and... Voilà! I've transferred to a new university. Well, technically I'm STILL transferring, since there's a lot of paper work left to please our bureaucratic system, but I'm already attending lessons and starting a new Year project (which is a pain in the ass, but oh well...)
So now I'm studying in the Institute of Radio and TV journalism and I'm actually really glad about it. In my previous university we were expected to become "well-trained reporters" but with no practical skills whatsoever, which always amazed me. And it hasn't even been a full week yet in my new university and I'm already supposed to hand in a radio programm, an interview and a reportage... The differences are drastic, it's gonna take some time for me to get used to them and to learn all the technical stuff I don't know about, but I'm looking forward to it! ^_______^

And absolutely unrelated: the new Naruto chapter killed my brain.

I finally got my computer fixed.
But, unfortunately, all the information I had was lost in the process, meaning that I don't even have a Microsoft Office installed on it now. Not to mention all the art, scans, music and video that were erased... and all of my university assignments. Yes, life sucks.
And I have more than a month's worth of information on my flist that I haven't checked yet. Ouch.

No more fillers. Yay.
Still waiting for the drawing to improve. Because ouch! Most of the time it hurt my eyes.
I did like Hirako, when the animators tried to draw him decently, and Ryuken, although... PLEASE TELL ME IT WAS PAINT THAT FELL ON HIM WHEN HE WENT TO SAVE URYUU! How could they make his hair WHITE??? I've always thought the series were called "Bleach" because of Ichigo having unusual "bleached" hair, but apparently they were named after Ishida's dad. I wonder whether Ukitake is gonna feed him candy like he does with Hitsugaya?

Hirako was overall good, though sometimes they "forgot" to draw his eyes...

I will love Ryuken no matter what. Even if he DID have brown hair in Ishida's flashbacks. Actually, white isn't bad, it's just... wierd.

Only good part of the new ending. I can see Grimmjow! Well, his back. But still! *fangirls*

And this makes me a sad panda... T___T

Shinigami no Ballad (live-action)
Yes, I watched this only because of Minami. But I watched a few episodes of the anime, so I would understand the plot a bit.
It's about a girl death god named Momo, who pities humans enough to make some of there dreams come true, before she kills them. Okey, that sounded horrible. But, actually, it's the truth - in the first epi of the drama, the very moment you think thats everything gonna be alright, the character dies. Now guess who's the lucky guy? XD
The anime is sad, but actually sweet, though I bit boring at some moments. The drama is kinda darker, though the main idea is the same. Oh, and the replaced the talking, flying cat with a cute boy, who actually drew more attention to himself, than the main character girl!

Minami plays a student who has to take lots of part-time jobs and do everything around the house after his mother dies, to support his little sister and depressed father.

He doesn't really talk to his dad, and fells akward around him.

Somehow, when I saw Minami with a toast, I couldn't help but think about Tezuka... :P

And when I finally relaxed and was pretty happy for Minami's character... there was an accident.

Yep, Minami got killed. Don't wanna think what happened to the remains of the character's family after that... Really, I should start watching dramas with happy endings.

Yes, this is all because Jump is still on holiday and I didn't get my weekly injection of manga.

New Year party - success!

First of all, I need to thank akutabi_gamma for inviting us over, and also murata_san, gerald_falzon and everybody else for being an awesome company!

This might be the strangest, and yet the best New Year I've ever had. That's what you get when you combine good friends (see above), PS2 (Soul Calibur, Guilty Gear), anime (PoT, Gundam), beverage (champaign, wine, tekilla, whiskey, blue curacao, etc), Lucy Monostone's songs and a hookah into one party. We had a great time and nobody seemed to have anything like a hangover afterwards, though I was kinda tired because of sacrificing my sleep to watch Futurama.

I need to read my flist, since a skipped... two days, right? A bit late to reply on all the holiday posts though... Sorry for that! ^___^"""

Since I'm celebrating New Year at akutabi_gamma's place, my family decided to exchange presents before I leave. And... I think my brother has truly lost his mind.
He actually bought my parents some cool new plasma tv and as if that wasn't enough, he got me a Nintendo Wii console. Heck, an hour ago I didn't even know of that thing's existence! And since it's only appeared on the market, there's, like, only one game for it yet. ~~And it's tennis. Oh the irony! XDD~~
Moreover, my bro bought a laptop for one (note - one, not only) of his girlfriends. Therefore, he spent practically ALL of his money on presents. And though I'm happy that he's so generous and caring, I can't stop wondering how he's gonna survive till next payday. He really should start planning ahead... -__-"""

Was testing my new digital camera and, of course, my first victim was my cat. Though it's really hard to make him stay still for even a few seconds...
